CLOWNING
“In Clown, we embark on the wondrous journey to rediscover innocence and uncover the pleasure of play. It is a daring adventure, in which we open our fragile hearts in search of fun.”
— Dody Disanto
Clown, You Say?
Curious about what we mean when we say clown?
Check out videos from some comedic champions like Charlie Chaplin, Lucille Ball, Mr. Bean, Laurel & Hardy, or Monty Python, to tap into the type of humor we’re referring to. Think physical expression and human relations at its finest.
Classes/Camps/Workshops
Kolleen & Bobby have been teaching clown & circus arts since 2012.
Clowning helps develop kinesthetic listening, group cooperation, generosity, and openness. It teaches children how to express how they see the world around them, with a curious and humorous lens. Students will learn how to be supportive and attentive audience members, and encourage one another as they try new things.

The short answer is no. We are theatrically trained clowns and our style of performance is tailored to performing on stage and for community events.
Reborn Among Redwoods
Dell’Arte International is a physical theater school nestled in the redwoods of California. In 2010, Kolleen attended the Professional Training Program (PTP) for a journey into the actor-creator and ensemble based physical theater. The program includes study of Mask, Commedia Dell’Arte, Heightened Acting and Clown. Kolleen and Bobby, and their new friends, shared life-changing experiences, living close to the cows, and with wide open hearts.
Bobby photographed performances throughout the year, and took headshots for the graduating class. This was the birth of Photos By Kintz!
Dialing it in with Dody
The Center for Movement Theatre is a school for the “actor-creator” in Washington, D.C., led by the incomparable Dody Disanto. Before graduating from Dell’Arte, it was recommended that Kolleen connect with Dody and study with her. The match was one made in the stars. Kolleen & Bobby both began studying with Dody in 2012, and will be forever students and friends.
Life Changing Laughter
Clowns Without Borders is an international non-profit dedicated to bringing laughter where it is needed most. CWB brings together professional performers who volunteer to perform for communities in need around the world. In 2014, Kolleen and Bobby traveled to Haiti where they and their ensemble performed for two weeks, reaching over 5,000 children. The experience forever changed them. Kolleen, a former CWB board member, has also performed in Indonesia and Greece.
Paging Dr. Pickle
Healthy Humor is an arts organization whose professional performers create moments of joy, wonder, laughter and comfort for hospitalized children. While living in Baltimore in 2016, Kolleen began working as a hospital clown at both Johns Hopkins and Children’s National Medical Center. The years spent playing with those children, supporting the hospital staff and collaborating with the other clowns was so meaningful. We hope to continue this work in Vermont!
